My grand-parents, my parents and I

MY GRAND-PARENTS, MY PARENTS AND I is a high-quality artistic series of performances which commemorates the 75th anniversary of the MV Empire Windrush arriving in the UK and brings together local partners and communities to create a unique theatre project in Birmingham.

MY GRAND-PARENTS, MY PARENTS AND I will culminate in a public performance on 2023 Windrush Day at the Midlands Arts Centre and tour schools and community centres across Birmingham.

It will enlighten audiences of the contribution of The Windrush generation to the nation as well as educate people about the Windrush story. Our production is new, bold and intergenerational including both older members and young actors of Birmingham Black Caribbean community.

The stage production is offered for FREE to secondary schools, colleges, youth centres, across Birmingham. A follow-up drama workshop is also offered.
